on being "the change i wish to see"
if we want the world to change in a particular direction, Gandhi advised us to manifest the change we wish to see in our own lives… as a sign of commitment… to model the change for others...
my conviction is masculine and feminine energies are way out of balance in the present moment... masculine is dominating to the point of severe oppression of the feminine...
masculine traits, in the view of western society, include strength, courage, independence, leadership and dominance…1
gracefulness, gentleness, empathy, humility, and sensitivity, are qualities considered feminine...2
my idea is that only feminine has direct contact with the divine… man or woman must access the sacred, divine or “higher time,” as Charles Taylor puts it, through a feminine approach… i also have the idea that only masculine has direct contact with the mundane or quotidian world… woman or man must access the mundane through a masculine approach…
masculine and feminine are a complimentary whole in yinyang fashion… yinyang philosophy maintains… when masculine and feminine energies get out of balance, disaster is imminent… white, christian, patriarchal masculinity dominates the present moment… i don’t know if we can rebalanced before the point of disaster… we must try…
i have long had feminine qualities… i have never been ruggedly masculine... after the death of my father, a severe patriarchal figure, i began releasing feminine expression… cultivating a feminine stance towards the world… i consider myself a womanly man... a “femman”…
my movement into feminine expression is, i believe, directly related to the lifting of the oppressiveness of my father… and a reaction to an ascendent and overbearing patriarchy… it is personal conviction and political statement…
yinyang maintains the necessity of rebalancing masculine and feminine energies by suppressing the dominant energy and encouraging the flow of the oppressed energy…
my commitment to feminine energy is substantial… i will continue manifesting it both inwardly and outwardly... i will be the rebalancing…
many women, and a few men, have been supportive of my feminine expression… this surprised me… i worried women would view me as an imposter or trespasser in the domain of the feminine… instead, they have been very welcoming… are they grateful for allies?…
my choice is to channel feminine energy both inwardly and outwardly… i do not expect men to manifest the way i do… i do look for men and women to value the power of feminine energy and to encourage its flow while acting to stem the flood of toxic masculinity that currently inundates us...
